IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society, Instrumentation and Measurement Technical Committee on Wireless and Telecommunications in Measurement (TC-13), Instrumentation and Measurement Technical Committee on Measurement and Networking (TC-37), Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, Instituto de Telecomunicações, Lisbon, and Shanghai Maritime University are pleased to announce the 2nd International Symposium on Sensing and Instrumentation in IoT Era (ICSI 2019) that will be held in Lisbon, Portugal, August 29-30, 2019.

The event represents a forum where researchers, engineers and practitioners around the world will promote the advances in sensing and instrumentation for IoT. In this event are valorized new and original researches in IoT applications such for smart city, transportation, industry, healthcare and farming that promote the developments of smart and intelligent systems for smart city, smart ports, smart transportation, smart healthcare. The meeting is highly technical aiming to provide a place of presentation of sound engineering and imaginative research considering the key role that sensors and instrumentation are playing for IoT technologies.

The main topics that are addressed cover issues such as the sensors networks, smart instrumentation, energy harvestings, remote monitoring, asset management, interoperability, M2M communication, bandwidth communication, gateway architectures, blockchains technologies, cloud and edge computing, data analytics, security track, open source IoT technologies, IoT technologies evaluation.

This scientific event provides networking opportunities and information sharing for deployment and implementation of best practice and standards for IoT technologies for logistic, transportation, farming, health, industry 4.0.

All papers will be peer reviewed and acceptance will be based on quality, originality and relevance for the event. Accepted papers will be published in the event proceedings with an IEEE catalog number and ISBN number. The accepted and presented papers will be published in IEEE Xplore and EI Compedex.

The full version papers (4 to 6 pages) submitted at the event will be accepted based on peer review process. The review process may conduct to some revision requests for the final version of the paper that must be mandatory fulfilled to have the paper accepted for the conference proceedings.

We invite for short or long presentations that express position, challenges, tutorials from industry representants. These presentations are not subject to the format and content constraints of regular submissions.

The accepted papers will be published in proceedings and will appear in IEEE Xplore and EI Compendex. Selected papers will be considered for publication in special issue of Sensors, SCI open Journal.

The Special Issue of Sensors, SCI Open Journal impact factor 2.6, will contain papers selected on the basis of the results of regular peer review of the manuscripts submitted for consideration by the participants to this event, and also presented during symposium. The session chairs will indicate for each session, the papers that are appropriate for publication in journal, concerning the topics and the quality required for publication in Sensors. The manuscript for the Sensors, MUST be significantly extended beyond the scope of the proceedings paper (in terms of the overall TECHNICAL CONTENTS and RESEARCH RESULTS).
